North Kent is lucky enough to have a new specialist school, offering provisions for children with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and social communication difficulties.
Birtley House Independent School situated in West Kingsdown, close to the M25, M20 and A20, understands that every child learns differently and therefore provides a creative, engaging and multi sensory curriculum.
The school provides specialist focused teaching support which is given to every child daily, alongside group sessions supporting social and communication skills, fine and gross motor skills, emotional literacy and the TTRS (Touch Type Read Spell) computer program.
The School places high priority on pastoral care with a very caring and experienced team of staff who work alongside every family.
For some children Birtley House Independent School is not just a school, it's a change of life.
This is what OFSTED had to say about Birtley House in their recent Inspection (May 2011): "Relationships are very good, with staff consistently using praise to develop pupils' confidence and self esteem."
"Staff have...a secure understanding of how pupils learn and... use their expertise to move learning on in a positive and supportive manner." Visit their
website to read the full OFSTED report: www.birtleyhouseschool.co.uk.
